The thing to remember about upgrading is that no matter how many times you do it, there will always be a next time. What would be a better question is not when, but what needs to be upgraded right now. | Unless you plan to spend all of your time upgrading, you need to decide whether your goal is to have the latest and greatest components, or the latest and greatest system. If the latter is the case, then you will have to consider how those components will work together. | Clearly, it is a trade-off which results in the choice of established techology over newer offerings, but which leads to a system which offers power, ease-of-use, and compatibility. Also, expansion is much easier when there are numerous products to fill an available niche.
