2Peter 1
1Simon Peter, slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those esteemed as equivalent to us by virtue of having received a lot of faith from the true God and from our Saviour, Jesus the Anointed One.

2-4Thanks to you-- yes, peace be magnified in full knowledge of the true God and our Lord Jesus, 3for every divine miracle was being given to us toward life and godly nature with the full knowledge of the one who called us to his glory and praise, 4through which he has given us even very precious promises, that through these we might be shown to be sharers in divine nature, having escaped the ruin which is at the root of lust so prevalent in the world.

5-7As to this very fact, all is a sprint to the end that you apply to your faith virtue, to your virtue knowledge, 6to your knowledge discipline, to your discipline incentive, to your incentive zealous gospel, 7to your zealous gospel brotherhood, to your brotherhood love.

8As these things begin quietly, and then manifest themselves, as they become superabundant, they will ordain you so that you won't be either inactive or fruitless towards knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9But if anyone is lacking in such things he is blind, closing his eyes in forgetting how he took hold of that purification from his sins of long ago.

10For this reason, brothers, still more vigourously endeavour to steady the calling or choosing of yourselves, for if you do this you will never fail.

11Then you avail yourself of an enormous side benefit by way of entry into the everlasting realm of our Lord and Deliverer Jesus, Messiah.

12Consequently, I ever intend to quietly remind you of these things, although you are aware that you are becoming resolute in the truth at present.

13-14It seems only right as long as I am in this body that I stir you up by way of reminder, 14as I know that I will soon put away my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made plain to me.

15I do hasten also so that you will hold these things in memory always after my death.

16-17For we weren't following trickery made of the stuff of myth in acquainting you with this power yet presence of our Lord Jesus the Anointed-- save that we became eyewitnesses of His Magnificence, 17when he received from the bosom of God the Father honour and praise in words of such greatness borne to him under that magnificent glory: ``Look, this is my son, the beloved. I think very highly of Him!''

18Yes, this is the message that we heard borne from heaven when we gathered together in the holy mountain.

19So we hold steadily to the word of the prophets, and you are doing well in paying attention to it as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and a day star rises in your hearts.

20-21It's crucial to know that all prophecy of scripture lacks interpretation which pertains to the self. 21Indeed, no human will at any time draws up a prediction, but men told what was carried by the holy spirit of God.

2Peter 1 1
Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and [the] Saviour Jesus Christ:
2Peter 1 2
Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
2Peter 1 3
seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue;
2Peter 1 4
whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.
2Peter 1 5
Yea, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply virtue; and in [your] virtue knowledge;
2Peter 1 6
and in [your] knowledge self-control; and in [your] self-control patience; and in [your] patience godliness;
2Peter 1 7
and in [your] godliness brotherly kindness; and in [your] brotherly kindness love.
2Peter 1 8
For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful unto the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Peter 1 9
For he that lacketh these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.
2Peter 1 10
Wherefore, brethren, give the more diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never stumble:
2Peter 1 11
for thus shall be richly supplied unto you the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2Peter 1 12
Wherefore I shall be ready always to put you in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and are established in the truth which is with [you].
2Peter 1 13
And I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
2Peter 1 14
knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle cometh swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ signified unto me.
2Peter 1 15
Yea, I will give diligence that at every time ye may be able after my decease to call these things to remembrance.
2Peter 1 16
For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2Peter 1 17
For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there was borne such a voice to him by the Majestic Glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased:
2Peter 1 18
and this voice we [ourselves] heard borne out of heaven, when we were with him in the holy mount.
2Peter 1 19
And we have the word of prophecy [made] more sure; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:
2Peter 1 20
knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.
2Peter 1 21
For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
