The Graveyard
A Graveyard Is...

A graveyard is a beautiful place
With hallowed inscription on bold stone face
A place of remembrance for times gone by
Where cuneiform earth meets an endless Sky
Where those who have lived rest on sanctified ground
No sin they commited thereafter is found
But sun-dappled images fly as on air
The breeze relieves gently the face of its hair
As all who have lived come to this when they die
In quiet is bliss for no life is a lie
A graveyard is a beautiful place
Where monuments stand as a witness to grace
And all of the pain of a lifetime is lost
Where Jesus redeems in good faith at no cost
For those once descended from this life to hell
As Jesus is risen may rise just as well
But those who remember take solace pray there
And ponder a time when endured a place where
The hearts who enlivened a world yet above
Moved deeper in preaching their gospel of love
A graveyard is a beautiful place
A day's or eternities' rest for the race
Where monuments stand as a witness to grace
With hallowed inscription on bold stone face
Though some do escape without leaving a trace
A graveyard-- is a beautiful place
