More Love
In the Bible, it is actually possible
to distinguish between four kinds of love.
Romantic love between the sexes is one kind.
Love based on blood relation is another.
Love founded on fellow feeling, or
companionship, is a third kind of love.
Godly or principled love, the fourth kind, is
love of the highest moral and ethical kind.
In this fourth and latter sense, it is
apparent that passion need not imply sex, since
people may be passionate about the difference
between right and wrong. Love based on
principle is the most enduring, and encompasses
the other three. It should also be noted
that the first three kinds of love may be wrong
in some cases, but not when they accord to the
principles of the fourth kind.
