Proverbs 13 1A wise son a father's instruction holds dear 1A scoffer a chiding will not even hear 2By fruit of the lips will a man be sustained 2The soul of transgressors is cruel and ill-gained 3In keeping one's word one with life comes to grips 3And ruin's the fruit of the looser man's lips 4The lazy one's will is to burn with desire 4While diligent souls scrape the fat from a fire 5A hater of lies is the lawful one's name 5The bad of the wicked one ends up in shame 6And righteousness safeguards the blessed one's way 6While wickedness leads an offender astray 7Some think they are wealthy and yet they have not 7Some tend to be poor still great riches they've got 8A rich man may live at exorbitant price 8But one who is poor will stay free from advice 9The righteous rejoices to greet the new light 9The wicked one's lamp will expire in the night 10By arrogance quarrels are soon set aglow 10But one well-advised is the one in the know 11The wealth that comes easy will ever grow less 11A hand that is gathering much has excess 12A heart's expectation is sickened at length 12Yet hope when fulfilled is a great tree of strength 13The one who despises advice is distressed 13But he who reveres the command will be blessed 14A well-spring of life is the artful one's law 14Instructing a man from a deathtrap withdraw 15For good understanding is what bestows grace 15And well-trodden pathways of sin are a trace 16All manner of wise men engage in their craft 16But he who exposes his folly is daft 17An angel of evil will fall into bad 17From one who is faithful a cure may be had 18Those shunning a warning get shyness and shame 18But he who takes heed of reproof will get fame 19Desire when accomplished is sweet to the heart 19While fools are abhorring from bad to depart 20One walking with wise men will wisely grow strong 20A shepherd of fools shall be dead before long 21Affliction will chase after sinners in flight 21But good is the payment for those who are right 22A good man to grandchildren leaves a good trust 22And those who fall short give their wealth to the just 23A great deal of food comes from poor farmers' fields 23But much may be lost in dispensing the yields 24In sparing the rod one is hating a child 24And one is to chasten in love to be mild 25The righteous one eats as he joyfully will 25And to satisfaction his soul he will fill 25The wicked is godless and morally wrong 25And lacking for eating his belly will long © 2003-2007 Ward Green.
