Song 7 A song that David sang to Jehovah over the words of Cush, a descendent of the tribe of Benjamin 1O Jehovah my God I take shelter in you 1O do save from the rod and from death bring me through 2That my soul not be torn as a lion can do 2But in you I am born when my saviour is due 3O Jehovah my God if it's something I've done 3If there is an injustice and I am the one 4(Or) if I have repaid my rewarder with wrong 4Or if I have unweighed my pursuer for long 5May my soul now be chased and may I now be caught 5May my life come to waste and be trampled to naught 5May my glory reside in the earth's lowly dust 6Selah rise O Jehovah in anger you must 6Raise yourself at the ire of the ragers at me 6Now for me wake the fire you said let judgment be 7Let the world gather round and engage as on high 8Now Jehovah will sound for our sentence is nigh 8Judge me Jehovah now by my righteous decree 8And according to how I have integrity 9May the wicked ones' bad please now come to an end 9And may you further add bear the righteous ascend 9And as God righteous is testing our inward part 10He's a shield and a saviour of those right of heart 11Oh yes God righteous is and the Judge of our way 11And he's hurling his words of reproach every day 12If a soul not repent now his sword he will whet 12And his bow will be bent and he will make it set 13For himself he prepares all his death-dealing gear 13And his arrows are gathered their tips they will sear 14Look how pregnant believed and he thinks he will die 14He is trouble conceived and gives birth to a lie 15Now he has dug a hole and it did come to pass 15That he fell in that hole of his own like an ass 16Now his trouble comes down on the top of his head 16And descends to the crown where his trouble had led 17So Jehovah I'll laud for his righteousness nigh 17On a tune I'll applaud for Jehovah Most High © copyright 2003-2006 Ward Green.
