Draft Version Song 63 A Psalm of David. In the Wilderness of Judah 1Yea God O God my God Thou art 1Seek Thee I shall with all my heart 1My soul doth thirst my flesh belong 1To Thee this desert land be wrong 2So to the consecrated place 2I turned to look on Thee 2To contemplate Thy power and grace 2With me they do agree 3As moves reproof to life in strength 3To speak Thy praises grand 4I'm moved to kneel and pray at length 4Thy name with outstretched hand 5To me the fat of marrow bring 5For then my soul will see 5How satisfied my mouth will sing 5Of joyous praise to Thee 6On watch for Thee in thought at night 6I prayed upon my wing 7As shaded Thine own wings my light 7My Shade to Thee I sing 8My soul doth follow close to Thee 8Thy right hand doth surround 9While those who seek the soul of me 9Shall flounder underground 10The power of thirst doth gobble up 10Who take the sword to drink its cup 10Their bodies' wasted meat 10Becomes what foxes eat 11The king hath sung his God hath praised 11As married glorious heavens raised 11While men of faith an oath by sevens swore 11The food of lies doth feed untruth no more © 2008 Ward Green. A Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
Psalms 63 1 O God, thou art my God; earnestly will I seek thee: My soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee, In a dry and weary land, where no water is. Psalms 63 2 So have I looked upon thee in the sanctuary, To see thy power and thy glory. Psalms 63 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise thee. Psalms 63 4 So will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. Psalms 63 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; And my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips; Psalms 63 6 When I remember thee upon my bed, [And] meditate on thee in the night-watches. Psalms 63 7 For thou hast been my help, And in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. Psalms 63 8 My soul followeth hard after thee: Thy right hand upholdeth me. Psalms 63 9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, Shall go into the lower parts of the earth. Psalms 63 10 They shall be given over to the power of the sword: They shall be a portion for foxes. Psalms 63 11 But the king shall rejoice in God: Every one that sweareth by him shall glory; For the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. |
