"Further, God blessed them and God said to them: 'Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it , and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving upon the earth.' "
(Genesis 1:28)
How could we overlook that?   The purpose of life.   Well, as long as the words are flowing freely we might as well discuss this. Is that the way we should view it?   True, sometimes it can be a topic not easily broached, but we need to consider intently the reason why we were put here on this earth.   Aside from the obvious enjoyment we get from having beautiful trees, flowers and animals, there was a greater purpose behind the first man and woman.   The Bible tells us about this purpose, even explaining that the woman had to become the mother of everyone living (Genesis 3:20).   So sex has a special significance.   But there was more in the command, namely that man was to subdue the earth, having in subjection all the animals on the earth.   What does this imply?   Harsh dominance?   Or loving care, a sort of guardianship.
